Not long after the release of the Eevee Heroes [S6a] expansion set, its Umbreon VMAX card almost immediately became one of the most expensive and desired cards in recent Pokémon TCG history. That card’s rarity of Hyper Rare (HR), visually stunning Full Art illustration, and depiction of one of the most popular Pokémon of all time combined to make it a modern-day Pokémon TCG icon. As a side-effect of that card’s status, the Umbreon V card from the same set which evolves into Umbreon VMAX also saw an uptick in value.

This Super Rare (SR) card’s Full Art illustration shows Umbreon V sitting atop a wall, overlooking a horde of Pokémon. It’s positioned in a way that appears to establish dominance, adding to the card’s allure. Behind Umbreon V is a sky lit up with a full moon—a crucial part of the lore surrounding the Dark-type Pokémon. The card’s holofoil and silver-and-black border accentuate the illustration’s aesthetic effect, making it almost seem as though Umbreon V is glowing under the moonlight.

As one of the two most popular Eeveelutions alongside Sylveon, this Umbreon V card was always expected to be a major pull. This is especially so when considering the fact that the set itself was inspired by Eevee and its evolutions—the other evolutions are already highly popular, making this particular set’s version of Umbreon V stand out all the more.

This card’s English version is card 189/203 in the Evolving Skies set.
