The “Chicago Split” Colorway Pieces Together a Nike Air Trainer 1
Black/Red and Modern/Retro.
First seen on the Nike Dunk Low, the titular “Chicago Split” motif reemerges on the Nike Air Trainer 1. It’s highlighted especially on the tongue tag wherein its design is—split—between the Nike logos of two eras, retro and modern. On the profile Swooshes, the Windy City colors of black and red habitate as they do on the outsole underfoot, with another tenant of Coconut Milk sharing their space.
The pair is far from ostentatious as its “We Are Familia” counterpart, threading closer to the “Tokyo 2003” colorway—hit with colors at all the right parts. That said, red highlights the Nike logo on the midfoot strap presiding over the cream that permeates the midsoles as well. It’s complemented by the neutral toned suede overlays at the fore and the heel, and finished off with the perforated white leather base.
A release date hasn’t been disclosed by Nike but it’s expected to be released sometime this year. More information should surface in the coming weeks or months. Stay tuned!
