Yu-Gi-Oh TCG Red-Eyes Black Dragon

One of the most iconic cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s history, Red-Eyes Black Dragon is best-known for its role in the anime series—specifically, the 1999 Yu-Gi-Oh movie produced by Toei Animation. In the movie, this card was wielded by Shōgo Aoyama as a reflection of his potential as a duelist. Owing to this card’s status, it has seen countless reprints over the years—the latest being in the recently-released Quarter Century Chronicle side:Pride booster pack.

Like a great many other cards in this set, this card comes in the coveted Quarter Century Secret Rare rarity in honor of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s 25th anniversary. The card’s alternate-art illustration shows the impact of the titular dragon’s Inferno Fire Blast attack, highlighting the cataclysmic damage that the attack inflicted on an unknown target.

As the featured card in the first-ever Yu-Gi-Oh movie, Red-Eyes Black Dragon carries a level of nostalgia unmatched by all but a select few cards. After all, it was the film that first attracted a significant number of people to Yu-Gi-Oh in the first place.

This card isn’t yet out in English; no release date for it or the rest of Quarter Century Chronicle side:Pride has yet been finalized.

An alternate-art Quarter Century Secret Rare version of the Red-Eyes Black Dragon (Quarter Century Chronicle side:Pride QCCP-JP108) card goes for 75,000 JPY (~US$496) as of the most recent figures.
