[Pokémon TCG] The Regigigas Deck Is Unorthodox and Quirky—But No Less Effective
The rapid tempo of this deck is certainly ironic to anyone well-versed with the Pokémon video games.
The idea of a Pokémon TCG deck that includes no evolved Pokémon at all, let alone Pokémon-ex or Pokémon VMAX, seems completely ridiculous on the surface. However, by using the right cards that synergize in specific ways, such a deck can certainly be extremely viable—such as this Regigigas deck.
The first thing to notice about this deck is that it contains multiple copies of each of the other five Regis from the Time Gazer [S10D] and Space Juggler [S10P] expansion sets. This is where the deck’s signature card comes in. Ancient Wisdom, the Ability of the Regigigas card from Time Gazer [S10D], allows three Energy cards to be taken from the player’s discard pile and attached to any of the player’s Pokémon if the player has all of Registeel, Regieleki, Regice, Regidrago, and Regirock in play.
Another advantage of having all the Regis in the deck is the type of versatility it affords. This deck is able to target the weaknesses of a wide range of Pokémon. Once again, this is a somewhat unconventional approach—but if the player sets things up correctly, this deck can be very difficult to stop indeed.
The only non-Regi Pokémon in this deck can play an important role as well. If possible, it’s advisable to lead with Klefki from Violet ex [SV1V]. This card prevents all Basic Pokémon’s Abilities from activating—potentially stymying opponents’ gameplans before they even get off the ground.
As of the latest prices, the cumulative cost of the cards in a Regigigas deck is ¥5,000 (~US$33).
