In Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s, a Yu-Gi-Oh anime spin-off series, Aki Izayoi was nicknamed the “Black Rose Witch”. When she made her first appearance in the anime, Aki was a person full of hate for almost everyone because of how she had been mistreated by many as a result of the use of her Psychic Dueling powers. These concepts have now been fused into the same card: Hate Rose Witch, a card from the newly-released Yu-Gi-Oh TCG Core Booster Doom of Dimensions.

About Hate Rose Witch (Doom of Dimensions DOOD-JP040)

In addition to the character’s concept, there are two other elements of the Hate Rose Witch card which reference the Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s anime. The first of these is the second meaning of the card’s name. In the anime, Black Rose Dragon—Aki’s signature card—gains access to the Hate Rose Whip attack when equipped with the Thorn of Malice card.

The illustration is also a reference to the anime because the character’s mask only covers the top portion of her face. This is a reference to Episode 24 of Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s: specifically, the scene where Aki’s Black Rose mask breaks after losing her duel against protagonist Yusei Fudo.

Being a card depicting a female character which has a Prismatic Secret Rare version, this card is one which will likely appeal to many. Additionally, its close connections to Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s will attract many who are fans of the anime.

Release Details

This card’s English version will be released with the rest of Doom of Dimensions on 25 September 2025.
