Black Rose Dragon, a card associated with Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s character Aki Izayoi, was first introduced in 2008 as part of Series 6 Core Booster Crossroads of Chaos. Since then, it’s had many reprints—but it wasn’t until the recent release of Doom of Dimensions that it received a retrained Plant counterpart: Bramble Rose Dragon.

This card’s effect includes a reference to Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s, the second Yu-Gi-Oh anime spin-off series. In Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s, Black Rose Dragon is Aki’s signature card; this card’s effects refer to her combinations involving Black Rose Dragon. Whenever the opponent activates a monster effect, this card can be used to inflict 600 damage to the opponent upon that effect’s conclusion after which all monsters controlled by the opponent lose 600 ATK. The first part of the effect references Aki’s use of the Rose Tentacles and Ivy Tokens cards in combination with Black Rose Dragon while its second portion alludes to Thorn of Malice.

Those who got into Yu-Gi-Oh by way of Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s are likely to be interested in this card because although not featured in the anime, it contains clear allusions to it. The card also has a Prismatic Secret Rare version and is therefore among the leading pulls of its set rarity-wise.

Release Details

The English version of this card will be out on 25 September 2025 alongside the rest of Doom of Dimensions.

A copy of a Prismatic Secret Rare Bramble Rose Dragon (Doom of Dimensions DOOD-JP039) card carries a price tag of 4,500 JPY (~US$30).
