The Nike Shox, with its hallmark shock-absorbing columns, remains indubitably one of the most recognizable silhouettes the Swoosh has ever produced. The archetypal Air Jordan 1, Air Force 1, and Dunk may be more easily confused by the casual observer, but the Shox possess an unmistakable construction and technology that sets them apart in one look.

Possibly even evoking a sense of nostalgia for older generations, the Nike Shox debuted in the late 1990s and quickly became popular among basketball and running circles. However, the shoe’s unconventional design was not without its detractors, as some found its futuristic aesthetic off-putting. Furthermore, Kendrick Lamar unexpectedly imbued the pair with renewed credibility in the realm of fashion when he donned the Martine Rose x Nike WMNS Shox MR4 “Scuba Blue” during the 2023 GRAMMYs. Should he choose to wear the Nike Shox during his Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, expect the silhouette to enjoy a revival much like Rihanna did for Salomon during hers.
