With his 37th birthday coming up on 17 June, we thought we'd pay some respect to a side of the 17-time Grammy winner that transcends hip-hop, a side you might find in your shoe collection.

Lamar’s work with brands like Reebok, Nike, and Converse has seen him reimagine classic silhouettes across all three brands.

With Reebok, Kendrick put his spin on the Ventilator, Classic Leather, and Club C. His work with Nike resulted in multiple iterations of the Cortez and a pair of React Element 55s. Then, with Converse, he put his fingerprint on the Chuck 70 Hi and Pro Leather.

The end result is 16 distinct shoes across three major shoe brands. A lot for a rapper who made it out of Compton, or “Bompton” as his peers from his neighborhood might say.
