Pokémon TCG Pikachu V

As one might expect, Creatures Inc. would never pass up an opportunity to spotlight the mascot of the entire Pokémon franchise. Thus, when Start Deck 100 [S1] was released as something of a summary of the eighth generation of the Pokémon TCG up to that point, Pikachu V was, as expected, positioned as one of the set’s standout cards.

This card’s Full Art illustration is covered in holofoil and comes with an outer silver border for added visual appeal. Further augmenting this effect is the silver outline that surrounds Pikachu V. Although this card does not have a specific rarity, it would be on the higher end of the rarity scale if it did as its card number is larger than the set number—thus denoting that this is one of eight “secret” cards in the set.

Of course, any of these non-standard cards that feature Pikachu will draw much attention. What’s more, this card in particular comes from a set intended to spotlight the generation as a whole—and this is likely to further highlight Pikachu’s status as emblematic of Pokémon as a whole.

In English, this card is card 157/172 from the Brilliant Stars set.

The latest prices show that a Pikachu V (Start Deck 100 [S1] 415/414) card has a price tag of 7,300 JPY (~US$47).
