[Pokémon TCG] Short-Circuit Opponents’ Tactics With Rotom V (Lost Abyss [S11] 104/100)
More than just "the Pokémon that lives in the Pokédex".
First introduced as a gimmicky one-off encounter in fourth-generation video games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Rotom’s popularity truly skyrocketed three generations later. In Pokémon Sun and Moon, the player owned a Pokédex possessed by a Rotom.
Now, the Rotom V card from Lost Abyss [S11] is here to prove that Rotom is no mere “overnight sensation”—that the Electric/Ghost-type is more than capable of mixing it with the best of them.
Rotom V is a highly splashable card, fitting well into all manner of decks and strategies. Its Instant Charge Ability works well in the early game when players might not yet have the resources to power up an attack. Since Instant Charge ends the player’s turn upon use, the player doesn’t miss out on much if an attack can’t yet be used. For this same reason, Rotom V is perhaps at the peak of its powers in slower-paced decks.
Its lone attack Scrap Short shouldn’t be undersold either. This attack does 40 damage plus 40 more for each Pokémon Tool card the player places in the Lost Zone. Therefore, Rotom V is also a solid addition to Lost Zone-centric decks like the Giratina VSTAR deck.
This Super Rare (SR) card’s Full Art illustration alludes to the in-universe lore surrounding Rotom. The Plasma Pokémon is known to inhabit abandoned electronic devices. Adding to this, among the electronic devices pictured in the illustration are a fan, a lawnmower, a refrigerator, a washing machine, and a microwave oven—references to Rotom’s five other forms.
This card’s English version is 177/196 in the Lost Origin set.
The price of a Rotom V (Lost Abyss [S11] 104/100) card of SR rarity is 6,040 JPY (~US$40).
