[Yu-Gi-Oh TCG] I:P Masquerena Returns After 3 Years (Quarter Century Chronicle side:Unity QCCU-JP191)
A Japanese I:P Masquerena card hasn't been out since 2021's Prismatic Art Collection booster pack.
Having not been released in Japanese for three years—its most recent iteration prior to this one was in 2021’s Prismatic Art Collection booster pack—the I:P Masquerena card from Quarter Century Chronicle side:Unity was unsurprisingly regarded as one of the booster pack’s biggest pulls. This was especially true of its Quarter Century Secret Rare form—the rarity created in honor of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s 25th anniversary.
Interestingly, this card has had two releases in the West since 2021. These came in the Maximum Gold: El Dorado and Battles of Legend: Monstrous Revenge booster packs. The latter also came in Quarter Century Secret Rare form; thus, the Japanese version of this card is likely to be significantly more valuable than the English version already on the market.
In addition to the usual value boost that comes with female characters being featured on a card, this one takes it to another level.
In the illustration, I:P Masquerena is scantily-clad in tight-fitting armor. Additionally, her hands are up by the sides of her head—almost as to resemble the cat-ear hand gesture—while winking. This imagery appeals to a very specific demographic—but one that’s well-represented among the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG fanbase.
No English release has yet been confirmed for this particular iteration of this card.
One copy of a Quarter Century Secret Rare version of an I:P Masquerena (Quarter Century Chronicle side:Unity QCCU-JP191) card sells for ¥15,000 (~US$100).
