emmi, a Japanese brand that specializes in women’s apparel and yoga wear, has recently collaborated with New Balance. Taking on the WL996, the latest evolution of the 996 model that was first introduced in 1988. All of the features, the brogues and fringes, that makes the shoe unique and beloved are a mainstay in the collaboration. All the while giving it a touch of elegance only emmi can.

The soft tones of the light beige body, the chestnut brown shoelaces, and the heel tab echo the tones of spring. Suede and leather makes the bulk of the pair’s construct, with the nylon fabric at the toe box giving it a softer more comfortable fitting. It further flourishes through the glossy satin used on the sockliner, adding an opulent touch. Its appeal is further strengthened with the employment of eco-friendly materials such as the recycled rubber outsole.

The emmi x New Balance WL996 has been available for pre-order since 8 May and will get a wider release on the 16th with a price tag of JPY15,180 (~US$113). It will be accompanied by an array of apparel including a t-shirt, shirt, skirt, and a plethora of other accessories.
