Nike’s all-time bread and butter. The Air Force 1 has had several makeovers in the four decades its been around. It’s been reconfigured, and at times transfigured. While most of the changes have been subtle, others have been more daring. Case in point: the Air Force 1 Lover XX.

Remove the laces, change the palette, it’s all been done ad nauseam but the titular pair has gone as far as doing both, in addition to removing its entire rear upper, transforming the pair into a mule. Nike’s answer to the growing appreciation for easy-to-wear footwear. New Balance has responded in kind with their CRV Mule v2.

The AF1 mule has arrived in an all-black suede upper with a sail sole unit. It retains its hallmark underfoot despite the overhaul atop, save for the recognizable perforations on the toe box.
They’re available now on Nike with a price tag of US$105.
