With Latin Heritage Month in its final leg, Nike adds the archetypal Dunk High into their “Somos Familia” (“We Are Family” in English) collection. The pair succeeds the Air Force 1 and the Air Trainer 1 offering in the pack, with the latter two having been released just recently.

Thematically, the Dunk Highs stays consistent with the aesthetic of its predecessors—color palette and motifs. The construction is also a varied mix, made up of mesh, leather, and suede; with tonal color blocking on the brown and red spectrum.

Some of its fineries include the two-toned, disparate aztec-inspired graphic embroidery over the base, depicted on the toe box and quarter. Not to be missed is the butterfly motif that’s embossed on the lateral heel, as seen also on the insoles with “Somos Familia” imprinted around it; as it also serves as the centerpiece on the shoebox.

Brown leather overlays separate the components of the upper, complemented by the Goldenrod laces. Underneath, red and yellow pinstripe run across the tongue, through the Nike tongue tag before functioning as the pull tab on the heel. The signature Swoosh on the lateral comes embellished in red suede. The entirety of the upper sits on top of a white midsole, supported by the Gum rubber outsole.

A release date hasn’t been announced but it is safe to assume that it is imminent with the National Hispanic Heritage Month ending on 15th October.

Also under the Nike umbrella, Converse releases their own tribute with the “Mi Gente, Mi Alegría” collection.
