A short history lesson for those interested: the Jumpman logo was inspired by Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan 1 photoshoot, which saw the basketball legend donning a Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” while soaring into the Chicago skyline with a ballet move (and not a dunk, as most people think!).

Taking inspiration from the logo’s history, which is now valued at $5.2 billion, the Jordan team is releasing a Nike Air Jordan 1 High OG “Skyline”. As one can guess from the name, the shoe draws on the original photoshoot’s Chicago sunset for its color palette. Starting with a pink mudguard, the pleasing color transitions seamlessly into a lilac purple shade on the heels. This gradient rests on a denim texture, giving the shoe added interest.

Alike most other Jordan 1 releases, the perforated toebox and panels remain white. A simple black takes over the Swoosh and collar. Rounding out the shoe is an off-white midsole that ends in a black outsole.

This Nike Air Jordan 1 High OG “Skyline” is expected to drop on 18 March 2023 with a retail price of US$180. This date is aligned to Michael Jordan’s return to the basketball scene and Chicago Bulls after taking a 17-month hiatus, in which he even tried out a baseball career.
