The Nike umbrella has been stretching its wings to many different industries over the past few years. One of them, unsurprisingly, is the luxury market. High-end giants such as Dior, Louis Vuitton, and more recently Tiffany & Co. have all found their respective places alongside the Swoosh, welcoming the fashion industry’s elite into the sneaker sphere.

With such prolific brand partnerships come exorbitant prices. Most of the aforementioned collaborations saw retail prices soaring into the thousands, however rationalised by the presence of said luxury associates. But this time, the Swoosh themselves are the ones jacking up the retail pricing of one of their upcoming releases.

While everyone’s still going crazy over Tiffany & Co.’s Air Force 1 Low “1837” retailing at US$400, this Nike Air Jordan 1 Hi’ 85 “Wings” will reportedly retail for a whopping US$1,500. At a price point that’s more commonly associated to resale prices of grails, it’s somewhat astonishing that it isn’t a collaborative effort with a brand or a celebrity.

Nevertheless, we get to take an early first look at the upcoming Jordan offering courtesy of @zsneakerheadz. Allegedly utilising cream of the crop materials and special packaging, this Jordan 1 Hi’ 85 “Wings” incorporates black and grey leather on the upper. Gold hits appear on the Jumpman’s Wings logo, tongue tab, heel and eyelets, and hopefully they’re made out of actual gold to justify the price tag.

Part of an upcoming collection titled “Wings”, this apparently won’t be the last high-priced Air Jordan 1 set to appear. Rumours of an Air Jordan 1 Low of the same title is circulating as well, though we don’t have a sample of those yet.
