INSCRIRE Adds Moccasin Fringes to the Clarks Wallabee

Almost Visvim, almost.

The Clarks Wallabee is perennially one of the most recognizable footwear silhouettes. Many brands have taken it on as a canvas for collaboration. Bold colors have washed upon it, new designs have presided over its surface, and new materials have been used for its make. Some are interesting, some palatable.

But so far, only Japanese label INSCRIRE—run by designer Yumika Oka—was bold enough to remodel its shape, adding moccasin fringes to the Wallabee. It’s big enough an overhaul to completely alter the shoes familiar aesthetic. Bar that, the main body of the shoe remains untouched, all its hallmarks, its base DNA undisturbed.

The cow leather suede upper is stain resistant and water repellent courtesy of CF Stead, a British company that specializes in its highest quality. Suede can work for multiple occassions, but it’s not an all-weather companion—until now.

The collaboration is the third project from the brand to commemorate their 5th anniversary. Although primarily known for their women’s offering, the collaborative Clarks shoes, in a singular Light Tan, will come in both men and women’s sizing. They’re available now on INSCRIRE’s website for JPY35,200 (~US$274).

Elsewhere, here’s another anti-sneaker that might pique your curiousity: ESENES WORLDWIDE Boneheads Clog.
