Nike Air Max Scorpion “Leap High” To Celebrate CNY
In celebration of the Year of the Rabbit.
Being fully designed and developed during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, the Nike Air Max Scorpion is a statement of creativity and innovation, and at the same time a distinct display of the Swoosh’s work ethos.
Having enjoyed a successful launch back in October last year, the Scorpion already has a few colorways in the works, including the recently surfaced “White Mint”, set to release this year. Joining them is this upcoming Air Max Scorpion as part of the “Leap High” collection, jointly in celebration of the Lunar New Year.
With this upcoming model, Nike has taken experimentation to a new level that’s benefitting to the novelty of the silhouette. While most of its uppers still come in its traditional Flyknit material, the laces, collar, heel and tongue have all been switched out for a pre-distressed, chenille-like texture that reminiscences the fur of a rabbit, which gives rise to the name of the silhouette.
To further usher in the Lunar New Year festivities, swatches of red and pink fill most of its uppers, while floral designs are embroidered on the side panel as well as near the toe box. The silhouette’s statement feature, its Air sole unit, also sees its upper-most layer being replaced with a marble texture.
To round off its design, custom branding on the tongue features “LEAP HIGH” and “JUST DO IT” above its regular Swoosh logo, while a mini teal Swoosh sits on the vamp, completing a very unique Year of the Rabbit design for a very unique shoe.
While a release date has not been confirmed, expect the Nike Air Max Scorpion “CNY” to release in the coming weeks at a retail price of US$250. Stay tuned as we’ll bring you more updates as soon as we get them.
