[Pokémon TCG] 2024 Pokémon TCG Illustration Contest Winners Announced, Artworks to Be Featured on Upcoming Cards
Likely to take place not only at the Pokémon Centers in Japan but also in the two which are located abroad as well.
[Update 23 Oct 2024] It has now been confirmed that the three cards from the Illustration Contest will be released in Japan on 24 March 2025. The cards will come as part of a special 3-card promotional pack that comes bundled with every purchase of a Heat Wave Arena booster box from 24 March to a date yet to be confirmed.
The results of the 2024 Pokémon TCG Illustration Contest which ran from 12 October 2023 to 31 January 2024 are now in. All three winning entries will be featured on an upcoming promotional Pokémon TCG card to be released on a date yet to be announced.
The Grand Prize winner was Kazuki Minami, whose illustration featured Pikachu and who has taken home US$5,000 for it. The winner of the Best Standard Card Illustration category was Alicia, who goes by the Instagram handle Acorviart; her illustration’s featured Pokémon was Feraligatr. Finally, the winner of the Best ex Card Illustration is someone with the online handle “Anderson” who submitted a piece featuring Toxtricity ex. Both Alicia and Anderson received US$3,000.
Six runners-up were named; each took home US$1,000 for their efforts. In addition, 15 entrants received a Judge’s Award and the US$500 that came with it.
The promotional cards which will feature the winning illustrations will be distributed at Pokémon Centers. These distributions are likely to take place not only at the Pokémon Centers in Japan but also in the two which are located abroad as well.
