Pokémon Day takes place on 27 February every year in honor of the anniversary of the launch of the Pokémon Red and Green video games in Japan back in 1996 which kicked off the entire franchise. Some of the events, campaigns, and promotions linked to each year’s Pokémon Day are connected to the Pokémon TCG; 2025’s iteration of Pokémon Day is no different.

About the Pokémon Day 2025 Promotional Cards

Four promotional cards have been confirmed for release on 27 February 2025 in conjunction with this year’s Pokémon Day. The first three will be the cards featuring the three winning entries of the 2024 Pokémon TCG Illustration Contest; they depict Feraligatr, Pikachu, and Toxtricity ex respectively. Those three cards will have the contest logo in their bottom-right corners. They will be the English versions of the cards in the 3-card pack to be bundled with every Heat Wave Arena booster box purchase in Japan from 24 March to a date yet to be announced.

The fourth card will be a holofoil version of the Sylveon card from Prismatic Evolutions [PRE] which will have the Pokémon Day 2025 logo on its right side.

All four cards will initially be distributed at participating Pokémon League events. It isn’t yet known if other retailers will subsequently go on to sell the cards.

Release Details

The holofoil Sylveon card does have a Japanese version; however, the Pokémon Day 2025 promotional version is an English-exclusive card.

In Japanese, the three promotional cards from 2024 Pokémon TCG Illustration Contest are cards 241/SV-P (Feraligatr), 242/SV-P (Pikachu), and 243/SV-P (Toxtricity ex) respectively; they will be released in Japanese on 24 March 2025.

All four cards’ respective sale prices will only be known after they make it to the open market.
