Yu-Gi-Oh TCG Light and Darkness Dragon Lord

For many years, Light and Darkness Dragon Lord was a card that only existed in the Yu-Gi-Oh GX manga. Though many in the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG community urged Konami to create a version of that card for the real-life cards, their pleas fell on deaf ears—until the release of the Infinite Forbidden Core Booster. For the first time ever, there will be a real-life Light and Darkness Dragon Lord card in the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG.

This card’s type and Fusion Materials are both based on the Yu-Gi-Oh GX manga. In the manga, this card is composed of both Light End Dragon and Dark End Dragon—this card’s flavor text alludes to that fact. Additionally, the second volume of the Yu-Gi-Oh GX manga released in 2007 features Light and Darkness Dragon on its cover; this card’s design is based on that image.

This card was also designed to more closely resemble its manga counterpart; many Yu-Gi-Oh fans were less than impressed by the fact that Light End Dragon and Dark End Dragon were Synchro Summon cards in real life. This was not the case in the manga. Thus, Light and Darkness Dragon Lord is an Effect monster—replicating its status in the manga.

In addition to the fact that this card is a reasonably faithful replica of a card that many thought would never be released in real life, this card also comes in Quarter Century Secret Rare. Both of these factors contribute to an increase in value.

This card isn’t yet out in English.

The price of a Light and Darkness Dragon Lord (Infinite Forbidden INFO-JP034) card is 2,200 JPY (~US$14).
