Following her Pokémon video game debut in Pokémon Platinum, many would understandably not have given Caitlin a second thought. After all, in the Battle Frontier she was just a side character—the uber-rich employer of Castle Valet Darach, one of the Sinnoh region’s Frontier Brains.

However, her popularity among the Pokémon fanbase soared following the releases of fifth-generation main series video games Pokémon Black and White in which she was revealed to be the Psychic-type specialist of the Unova region’s Elite Four. It’s that iteration which this Pokémon TCG card depicts.

This Super Rare (SR) card from Jet-Black Spirit [S6K] has a Full Art illustration that shows Caitlin seated beside a window with the sun streaming in. The card’s holofoil amplifies the visual effect of the sunlight, adding further visual impact to the image.

This being a card with a Full Art illustration of a female character, there was always going to be demand for the card; additionally, Caitlin embodies a specific female character archetype that certain fans are likely to take to. Add that to the card’s high rarity and the fact that Caitlin has made appearances in multiple generations of Pokémon video games and it only makes sense that this card has seen an uptick in demand and value.

The English version of this card is 189/198 in the Chilling Reign set.

A copy of a Caitlin (Jet-Black Spirit [S6K] 080/070) card costs 22,200 JPY (~US$142).
