[ONE PIECE Card Game] Backstory Allusions Fill This Jewelry Bonney Card (500 Years in the Future [OP-07] OP07-019)
To anyone who knows the truth about her yet still wants this card for exactly "that reason" anyway: the hell is wrong with you?
Introduced to the One Piece manga as one of the 12 members of the so-called “Worst Generation”, Jewelry Bonney would go on to play an important role in the ongoing Egghead Arc—the story arc on which many of the cards in ONE PIECE Card Game set 500 Years in the Future [OP-07] are based. This particular card contains several references to Bonney’s role thus far in this arc.
In the background of the card is an image of Bonney’s father Bartholomew Kuma. One of the key developments of the Egghead Arc thus far occurred when Bonney learned what had really happened to her father many years ago—how and why Kuma became a Pacifista cyborg. Kuma’s signature bear paw print—alluded to by his name—can also be clearly seen in the background. Though neither outright stated or shown, it’s implied that the image shows Bonney on the island of Egghead from which the story arc takes its name.
Ordinarily, it would be simple to chalk up this card’s elevated value to the usual “female character boost”. It could also be mentioned that she’s positioned rather suggestively while scantily clad to drive up the card’s sex appeal. However, it should also be noted that many who are relatively new to the series might not yet know the entire truth about Bonney, while those who do… well, we won’t go there in this post.
This card will be released in English on 28 June 2024 along with the other cards in 500 Years in the Future [OP-07].
One copy of a Jewelry Bonney (500 Years in the Future [OP-07] OP07-019) card of LP rarity goes for 5,800 JPY (~US$37).
