[Yu-Gi-Oh TCG] Slifer the Sky Dragon Is Actually Playable This Time Around (Quarter Century Chronicle side:Unity QCCU-JP200)
Atem's not the only one who can summon Slifer anymore.
Without any question, the most iconic iteration of the Slifer the Sky Dragon card was the tournament-illegal version first released as a promotional Yu-Gi-Oh TCG card all the way back in 2000. It was distributed to people who pre-ordered the Yugi Deck version of the video game Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of Great Duelist.
Due to the card’s status within the Yu-Gi-Oh community coupled with fan demand for a tournament-legal Slifer the Sky Dragon card, Konami released the first such card in 2011. Reprints of this card have been relatively frequent since—the latest being part of the Quarter Century Chronicle side:Unity booster pack.
Slifer the Sky Dragon is one of the three Egyptian God Cards—the other two being Obelisk the Tormentor and The Winged Dragon of Ra. It’s the only one of the trio to be found in Quarter Century Chronicle side:Unity. As such, this status gives its value a boost—especially with regard to its Quarter Century Secret Rare form.
Those who have followed the Yu-Gi-Oh anime and/or manga are likely to take additional interest in this card. In the anime and manga, the souls of their respective Egyptian gods inhabit each respective card (the English versions of the anime and manga used the name “Slifer” instead of “Osiris” due to censorship-related reasons). As such, they are imbued with immense power in-universe—alluded to by the gameplay-illegal version of their respective cards including this one’s.
Like the rest of Quarter Century Chronicle side:Unity, no English release date has yet been confirmed for this Slifer the Sky Dragon card.
The retail price of a Quarter Century Secret Rare Slifer the Sky Dragon (Quarter Century Chronicle side:Unity QCCU-JP200) card is ¥13,000 (~US$86).
