[Pokémon TCG] Luxray V Zaps Opponents’ Strategies (Time Gazer [S10D] 070/067)
The Gleam Eyes Pokémon is unquestionably among the most frustrating cards to play against in the current meta.
As far as gameplay is concerned, among the most sought-after Pokémon TCG cards are those which disrupt the flow of opponents’ play, denying them opportunities to set things up just how they might’ve planned. The Luxray V card from the Time Gazer [S10D] set is among the current metagame’s very best at doing so.
This Secret Rare [SR] card depicts Luxray V in front of an illuminated yellow background—intended to impart the idea that Luxray V’s electric powers are lighting up the immediate surrounding area. This concept is further emphasized by the fact that the Full Art illustration of Luxray V itself is outlined in white. The card’s color palette is slightly brighter than usual to add to this effect.
From a gameplay perspective, Fang Snipe is an outstanding disruption attack. Dealing 30 damage, its standout feature is the opportunity to discard one of the opponent’s Trainer cards in hand after looking through it. Additionally, learning what other cards are in the opponent’s hand will allow the player to better adjust tactics to suit what the opponent is likely to do next.
When paired with Pidgeot ex from the Ruler of the Black Flame [SV3] set, Luxray V serves as half of a potent combination that can create a massive resource advantage in the player’s favor. After a certain point, assuming all goes as it should and the deck isn’t hard-countered by the opponent’s, this duo can put the player in a position from which losing is next to impossible.
This card’s English version is 168/189 from the Astral Radiance set.
One copy of a Luxray V (Time Gazer [S10D] 070/067) card of SR rarity is relatively affordable, going for ¥1,780 (~US$12).
