The release of the Pokémon TCG’s Ancient Roar [SV4K] and Future Flash [SV4M] expansion sets saw the introduction of two new card categories: Ancient and Future. Among Ancient Pokémon TCG cards, one of the standout cards in the Ancient Roar [SV4K] set is the Special Art Rare (SAR) version of Roaring Moon ex.

Salamence’s prehistoric ancestor gets the Full Art treatment on this SAR card. Ryota Murayama’s illustration depicts Roaring Moon ex in a dominant stance, overpowering a slew of other Ancient Pokémon. This is exactly the imagery of sheer overwhelming power that this Paradox Pokémon would be expected to portray.

Roaring Moon ex’s status as an Ancient card is also a factor that jacks up its value. The novelty factor of the card’s representation of a new gameplay mechanic invites curiosity and in turn draws attention.

This card exists in an English version as well. It’s part of the Paradox Rift [PAR] expansion set as card 251/182.

The latest price of a Roaring Moon ex (Ancient Roar [SV4K] 090/066) SAR card stands at ¥14,800 (~US$99).
