BOTTER and Reebok Unveil Their 3D-Printed Murex Shell Footwear
Part of BOTTER's Fall/Winter 2023 collection.
Last year, Botter partnered with adidas for a rare retrofitting of the football boot. The result—typical of founders Lisi Herrebrugh and Rushemy Botter—is unique, for a lack of a better word. But that’s what makes the best of fashion, the audacity to transform a model that’s so recognizable in its original shape.
This year, having unveiled it during Paris Fashion Week AW23, they bring together with Reebok the 3D-printed Murex Shell shoe. The upper is recognizably Reebok’s but underfoot sees a bizarre overhaul. As intended, it’s clearly not made with traditional materials or processes, with its ridges reminiscent of computer-rendered animation.
The shoes were unveiled in a plethora of colorways with most featuring a tonal finish, and some a gradation between colors. Unlike most 3D-printed shoes of its kind, the pairs are secured with laces that complement the rest of its body.
Not much is known about the shoes right now but rumor has it the two parties will expand the line heading into the making of their Spring/Summer 2024 collection.
