BAIT x Astro Boy x Reebok Is a Futuristic Look From the Past

Being one of the biggest pop culture unique to Japan, anime is a favorite for many regardless of age and gender. While there are countless series that one can think of, there is one that every anime fan would have at least heard of its name once in their life – Astro Boy.

Known as one of the earliest tv anime series to exist, Astro Boy became a hit through featuring a futuristic world that changed the worldview of many from the old generations. Throughout the years, the series has also introduced many sequels, and had seen success with merchandise sales including games and even lifestyle goods.

Forwarding to the present, retailer BAIT and sports label Reebok has decided to bring the robot character back for an exclusive sneaker pack release as a nod to the culture. Featuring the Hurikaze II and Instapump Fury Zone silhouettes, technical approach to details are shown through circuitry patterns on wavy panels that resembles the flow of electricity. As seen on the campaign images, the shoes are treated with luminescent materials that glow-in-the dark, adding to the Astro Boy’s futuristic concept.

The BAIT x Astro Boy x Reebok is now available for purchase via BAIT with a retail price of $180 for the Hurikaze II and $200 for the Instapump Fury Zone.
