Six new ONE PIECE Card Game Starter Decks were recently released; each of the six corresponds to one of the six colors of the ONE PIECE Card Game. In the Purple/Black Monkey D. Luffy Starter Deck [ST-26], the standout card depicts its titular character—but as a Character card, not the deck’s Leader card.

About Monkey D. Luffy (Purple/Black Monkey D. Luffy Starter Deck [ST-26] ST26-005)

The scene depicted on this card’s illustration is taken from the transition between the One Piece manga’s Egghead Arc and Elbaph Arc when Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates are being taken to Elbaph by the Giant Warrior Pirates on the Great Eirik. There’s an additional layer to the illustration which those who follow the manga will recognize as the beverage in the tankard that Luffy is shown holding is strong enough to cause hallucinations or leave people unconscious—and it’s this turn of events that leads to the beginning of the Elbaph Arc.

This is one of two cards in the Starter Deck which comes in the rarity of Super Rare (SR). As might be expected, being a card that depicts the series protagonist, its value receives a boost in addition to the demand generated by the card’s rarity.

Release Details

This card will be out in Japanese on 28 June 2025 alongside the rest of the Purple/Black Monkey D. Luffy Starter Deck [ST-26].

A copy of a Monkey D. Luffy (Purple/Black Monkey D. Luffy Starter Deck [ST-26] ST26-005) card sells for 1,020 JPY (~US$7.04).
