Pokémon TCG Noctowl

When Stellar Miracle [SV7] was released in July 2024, many serious Pokémon TCG players were somewhat underwhelmed because the set didn’t contain quite as many metagame-impacting cards as a lot of them were hoping for. However, it wasn’t all bad news: gameplay-wise, the set did contain several highlights. One of them was the Noctowl card which is likely to become a staple of the meta going forward.

About Noctowl (Stellar Miracle [SV7] 114/102)

Noctowl has one of the best Abilities in the current meta. Jewel Seeker allows the player to take two Trainer cards from the deck as soon the player evolves Hoothoot into Noctowl if the player has at least one Terastallized Pokémon in play. It’s a Terastallization-linked variant of Shady Dealings, the Ability of the Inteleon card from Sword [S1W]. Despite the Terastallization requirement, Jewel Seeker is actually superior to Shady Dealings because it comes on a Stage 1 Pokémon while Inteleon is a Stage 2 Pokémon; thus, Jewel Seeker can be used earlier in the game.

The two Trainer cards that the player fetches via Jewel Seeker can be used for just about any purpose according to the situation at hand. As such, Noctowl is a highly splashable card and is likely to be seen in a wide range of decks at Pokémon TCG tournaments to come. Some decks use Noctowl for consistency and stability; others deploy the Normal/Flying-type Pokémon to set up combos that ultimately deal serious damage.

This card comes in the rarity of Art Rare (AR). The holofoil that covers the card’s Full Art illustration adds emphasis to its aforementioned Ability of Jewel Seeker—the card’s artwork appears to gleam and shimmer like a jewel when held to the light. The images of Noctowl looking through a hole in a tree into its nest, meanwhile, alludes to the “Seeker” portion of “Jewel Seeker”.
