ONE PIECE Card Game Purple/Yellow Pudding Deck

Following the release of Two Legends [OP-08], the Purple/Yellow Pudding deck ended up becoming one of three decks centered around a Leader card from that set to make an impact on the ONE PIECE Card Game metagame. Following the recent bans of the Red/Purple Law deck and the Enies Lobby card from Pillars of Strength [OP-03], this deck is well-positioned to rise in prominence in the current meta.

Strategy

To start things off, the player is recommended to make use of searcher cards such as the Charlotte Pudding Character card from Pillars of Strength [OP-03] as well as We’re Going to Claim the One Piece!!! from 500 Years in the Future [OP-07]. The cards to be obtained via these draw engines depend on the state of the player’s hand. If the situation calls for DON!! ramping, Charlotte Katakuri from Two Legends [OP-08] is the card to seek out. If a Counter card is needed, the ideal pick is Charlotte Flampe from the Extra Booster Memorial Collection [EB-01].

As the game progresses, the Katakuri card’s DON!! ramping capabilities can be paired with the Edward Newgate card from The Three Brothers [ST-13] which allows the player to manipulate the order of the Life cards which the player has. This in turn sets up a position in which the player is well-positioned to deal major late-game damage while adding further Life cards.

It is, in fact, in the late game when the Purple/Yellow Pudding deck truly shines. A pair of Charlotte Linlin cards—one from Two Legends [OP-08], the second from Pillars of Strength [OP-03]—are two of the deck’s late-game attackers. As mentioned, both cards not only deal massive damage; they also enable the player to add Life cards as soon as they’re played. The card from Two Legends [OP-08] should be played first for DON!! ramping purposes. If the player has either 0 or 1 Life cards remaining, the Portgas D. Ace card from 500 Years in the Future [OP-07] can be brought in; it’s another heavy hitter and one that replenishes Life cards while also gaining Rush in such an instance.

The deck’s most difficult matchups are against the Yellow Kalgara and Blue/Purple Reiju decks. Against the Yellow Kalgara deck, the best counterplay option is Conquest of the Sea from Two Legends [OP-08]. That card slows down the Yellow Kalgara deck’s rapid pace by KO’ing up to two of the opposing Characters. The Blue/Purple Reiju deck is a similarly fast-paced, aggressive deck. Against that deck, Conquest of the Sea is equally important, as is the Two Legends [OP-08] Linlin card; both slow down the opponent’s tempo and allow the player’s high-cost attackers to eventually take over and set up the W.

Price

The total cost of every card in the Purple/Yellow Pudding deck is a minimum of 47,640 JPY (~US$329).
