[Pokémon TCG] Flutter Mane (Wild Force [SV5K] 076/071) [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]

Considering Flutter Mane's stats in the video games, it's rather ironic that this is a primarily defensive card.

The Ancient Box deck had a somewhat underwhelming overall performance at the recent Pokémon TCG World Championships in Honolulu; the deck’s best result was a 42nd-place finish in the hands of Argentine Diego Cassiraga, the 2017 world champion. That being said, this doesn’t mean that the deck has become completely unviable gameplay-wise. One of the cards which has kept this card at least somewhat relevant in the meta is the Flutter Mane card from Wild Force [SV5K].

About Flutter Mane (Wild Force [SV5K] 076/071)

Flutter Mane’s most notable gameplay feature is its Ability of Midnight Fluttering, one of the best defensive Abilities in the game right now. Midnight Fluttering prevents any opposing Active Pokémon’s Abilities from taking effect, causing major disruption by forcing the opponent to put the Active Pokémon on the Bench if the opponent intends to use that Pokémon’s Ability.

Although primarily a defensive card, Flutter Mane can play offense if necessary. Hex Hurl hits for a solid 90 damage for three Energy cards as well as 20 damage to be spread across opposing Benched Pokémon however the player desires. The attack’s Energy requirement can be made less steep with the assistance of Professor Sada’s Vitality from Ancient Roar [SV4K].

Visually, this Art Rare (AR) card has a Full Art illustration depicting the Ancient Paradox counterpart of Misdreavus somewhere in Area Zero, the mysterious area in Paldea where Paradox Pokémon dwell. The imagery portrays a dark, foreboding aura—apt for a Ghost-type Pokémon like Flutter Mane.
