It’s often the case that Pokémon which evolve into or from exceptionally popular Pokémon end up completely overshadowed. This has always been the case with Haunter, a Pokémon best known as the middle form of perennial fan favorite Gengar. However, by being handed a Master Ball Mirror version in its appearance in Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a], Haunter has seen the value of its Pokémon TCG card climb rapidly, giving it a rare moment in the spotlight.

Somewhat ironically, part of the appeal of this card is the fact that Haunter evolves into Gengar. The Gengar Master Ball Mirror card from Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] is, unsurprisingly, one of the set’s most coveted and valuable. For this reason, many prospective buyers will seek Haunter’s Master Ball Mirror form to complete the evolutionary line.

The rather disorderly art style of the card’s illustration is fitting for the nature of the card’s featured Pokémon. Adding to this, the side glance that Haunter is giving further adds to portraying the Ghost/Poison-type Pokémon’s penchant for chaos and mischief.

Finally, as a Pokémon that uses Psychic Energy cards, this card has a purple background that matches the original color of the Master Ball. For this reason, Master Ball Mirror versions of cards that use Psychic Energy cards have prints that can be said to blend into the card’s background more seamlessly.
