[Pokémon TCG] Bulbasaur Master Ball Mirror Takes It Back to Where It All Began (Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] 001/165)

There are arguably no Pokémon that capture the feeling of Gen 1 nostalgia like the original starter trio.

Pokémon TCG Bulbasaur Master Ball Mirror

The Japanese version of Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] gave many of the cards in the set a Master Ball Mirror print—cards featuring images of the Pokémon universe’s most powerful Poké Ball placed all over the cards’ respective backgrounds. Master Ball Mirror cards were considerably rarer and more valuable than their ordinary counterparts. In particular, Master Ball Mirror versions of fan-favorite first-generation Pokémon are among the set’s most sought-after pulls—such as this Bulbasaur card.

There’s not a whole lot that really needs to be explained here. As one of the original Pokémon starters from Gen 1, Bulbasaur has always been one of the most popular Pokémon. Its status as the Pokémon with the first entry in the Pokédex adds to its appeal—for certain collectors, having that “001” card of such a nostalgic and valuable set really is a big deal. This is the case with the Bulbasaur Master Ball Mirror card because card numbers in Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] are arranged by Pokédex number.

As has been mentioned, Master Ball Mirror iterations of cards from Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] are major gets; having that print alone drives the demand for even a relatively common card all the way up. The exclusivity of Master Ball Mirror cards also needs to be mentioned; they are only available in the Japanese version of Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a].

There is no English version of this card as Master Ball Mirror versions only exist in Japanese.

The price of a Bulbasaur Master Ball Mirror (Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] 001/165) card is 8,900 JPY (~US$57).
