Monkey D. Garp, who’s mainly known as the grandfather of One Piece protagonist Monkey D. Luffy, was among the central figures of the Marineford Arc. It’s this arc—in particular the events of the Summit War of Marineford—that serves as the basis of the majority of ONE PIECE Card Game set Paramount War [OP-02] including this card.

Garp’s status as a Marine Vice Admiral is alluded to in the background of this card’s illustration by way of the imagery of nautical symbols and maps. This Parallel Art illustration also makes use of a close-up of the face of “Garp the Fist”, conveying both his immense power and his hatred of the Celestial Dragons under whom he serves.

Due to his connection to Luffy, Garp has been able to attain a level of popularity that few of the other Admirals or Vice Admirals have been able to. In addition, some might have even come across this card by accident as they might have been searching for a Monkey D. Luffy card but become interested anyway—something that might inadvertently jack up overall interest in this card.
