[ONE PIECE Card Game] This Donquixote Doflamingo Card Goes Hard on Characterization (Romance Dawn [OP-01] OP01-073)
Obviously, the scene depicted on this card took place long before his imprisonment in Impel Down.
The primary antagonist of the Dressrosa Saga when he was the illegitimate ruler of Dressrosa, Donquixote Doflamingo is among the most popular One Piece villains—a fact borne out by his high ranking in multiple fan polls. Although the original storyline (later revised) of the subsequent Wano Country Saga had him as a major antagonist of that saga as well before being scrapped, that hasn’t reduced his popularity among fans in any way; this made him an easy choice for BANDAI to put on one of the rarest cards in Romance Dawn [OP-01], the first-ever ONE PIECE Card Game set.
This Special Rare (R-SPC) card has an illustration that puts emphasis on characterization. Doflamingo is shown seated on a plush couch while laughing arrogantly, reflecting his haughty, carefree nature as well as his tendency to be overdramatic. Members of his eponymous crew—the Donquixote Pirates—can also be seen in the background.
Although Doflamingo is male, the “female character boost” does come into effect on this card. This is because the back view of a woman can be seen in the illustration as well as partial shots of two others in the swimming pool in front of Doflamingo; another is seen reclining next to Doflamingo on the couch Although not clearly shown, the fact that the latter three are scantily clad plays up the effect.
This card has already been released in English.
The price of a Donquixote Doflamingo (Romance Dawn [OP-01] OP01-073) as of the latest figures is 3,900 JPY (~US$25).
