ONE PIECE Card Game Kikunojo

A member of the Nine Red Scabbards who once served Wano Country’s former daimyo Kozuki Oden before eventually taking on the same role towards Oden’s son Momonosuke, Kikunojo was one of the key characters throughout the Wano Country Saga of the One Piece manga. As this saga had wrapped up just a few months prior to the launch of Romance Dawn [OP-01], the inaugural set of the ONE PIECE Card Game, the Kikunojo card was thus in much demand.

This Special Rare (R-SPC) card has an illustration that clearly shows Kikunojo’s role as one of the Kozuki family’s nine retainers. Other members of the Nine Red Scabbards—specifically Inuarashi, Kin’emon, and Raizo—can be seen in the image. In addition, her brother Izou who, while not one of the nine retainers is nevertheless associated with them, is in the frame on the right side of the image.

As usual, the “female character boost” comes into effect with this card. On top of that, those who follow the manga closely will have picked up on the fact that the card’s illustration would’ve been from before the Raid on Onigashima. This is because Izou can be seen in the image; he was killed during the raid that ultimately brought down the Beasts Pirates and their allies.

In addition to everything else already mentioned, another factor that boosts the card’s desirability is the fact that Kikunojo is a trans woman. Since the character, and therefore this card, is a form of LGBTQ+ representation, ONE PIECE Card Game collectors and players who are LGBTQ+ are thus more likely to be drawn to this card.

This card has already been released in English.

The latest figures place the value of a Kikunojo (Romance Dawn [OP-01] OP01-035) card at 2,500 JPY (~US$16).
