[Yu-Gi-Oh TCG] CXyz Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Makina Breaks the Fourth Wall (Infinite Forbidden INFO-JP043)
Somewhat surprisingly, there's no "fanservice" in the way most fans would, well, commonly define it...
Every now and again, the folks at Konami will go out of their way to make several inside references. In the case of the CXyz Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Makina card from the Infinite Forbidden Core Booster, that reference comes when it’s paired with another card—specifically, the Servist Puppet card from the same set.
When combining the “Fanatix” portion of the name of this card with the “Servist” portion of the Servist Puppet card, the word “fanservice” arises. The word “fanservice” is the slogan typically used by Quattro, a character from the Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL anime series. In addition, “fanservice” is a term typically used for elements that cater to a specific demographic of the fanbase (ironically, that definition of “fanservice” isn’t present on either card).
This card contains several other references to Quattro. It represents his harsh, sadistic personality that he exhibits during Duels while its chest gears and overall color scheme resemble those of Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder—a card that Quattro used in his Duel against Caswell Francis and Gronk Stone. Finally, the face of CXyz Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Makina resembles the mask worn by Vetrix, Quattro’s father and a user of the Gimmick Puppet archetype.
After combining these anime references with the fact that this card can come in Quarter Century Secret Rare, it’s somewhat expected that this card would be in demand.
This card hasn’t yet been released in English.
The sale price of a CXyz Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Makina (Infinite Forbidden INFO-JP043) card is 2,400 JPY (~US$16).
