The SLOW STEADY CLUB x Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Draws Inspiration from Dansaehwa
The pair also adopts Slow Steady Club's design ethos that draws heavily from the Bauhaus movement's emphasis on functionality and aesthetics.
Japanese sportswear giant Mizuno has teamed up with Korean fashion brand Slow Steady Club for their first collaborative sneaker. The limited-edition shoe uses Mizuno’s Wave Rider 10, originally released in 2006, as the canvas.
This iteration of the silhouette adopts Slow Steady Club’s design ethos in its design language. Slow Steady Club, founded in Seoul in 2014, aims to go beyond trends and offer timeless, high-quality, carefully curated pieces. Their philosophy draws heavily from the Bauhaus movement’s emphasis on functionality and aesthetics.
This philosophy is also mixed with Dansaehwa, a Korean monochrome art movement that is known for its understated color palette and focus on traditional materials in order to create depth and complexity, and the result is footwear that exudes just that.
The shoe’s Black and Gray color palette is splashed across a thoughtful selection of materials to create texture and shades for a multi-layered visual experience. Subtle shadows and highlights add to the sneaker’s overall beauty.
The SLOW STEADY CLUB x Mizuno Wave Rider 10 is slated for release in Japan on 18 May 2024 by way of Mizuno brick-and-click stores. It has a retail price tag of 19,800 JPY (~US$129).
