After a period of relative stability in the ONE PIECE Card Game metagame, there have recently been shifts that have brought new decks to the forefront. Results taken from tournaments around the world have shown that certain decks are clearly on the rise while others have fallen off.

Red/Purple Law

At the moment, this deck is probably the leading contender for the title of “best deck in the current meta”. The Red/Purple Law deck has been dominating Flagship Battle tournaments across Japan and the Asia-Pacific region while also notching impressive results at other tournaments such as the TAK Games Online Regional and the Mexico City Regional.

The Trafalgar Law card from The Three Captains [ST-10], this deck’s Leader card, allows the player to place an opponent’s Character with 3000 power or less at the bottom of the opponent’s deck before the player plays a Character card with a cost of 4 or less from the hand. It’s a highly disruptive card that if used at just the right moment, can swing the balance of the game on the spot.

This deck makes use of multiple Characters with 5000 power or more at the same time. This allows for efficient damage output by increasing the number of attacks used per turn.

Black/Yellow Luffy

Following strong showings at the Sydney Regional, Oviedo Regional, and LATAM TCG Online Treasure Cup where Giovanni Scollo took this deck to a second-place finish, the Black/Yellow Luffy continues to underscore its spot as a major force in the current meta.

A deck that makes heavy use of Life manipulation, it includes multiple mechanisms by which players can easily add whatever cards they might need to their hand. It’s a versatile deck that can be manipulated to create matchup advantages against many leader cards with high power levels—primarily through the Monkey D. Luffy card from The Three Brothers’ Bond [ST-13] which is the deck’s Leader card.

That card in turn synergizes well with Sabo from Kingdoms of Intrigue [OP-04] and Gecko Moria from Wings of the Captain [OP-06]. Sabo gives the deck a defensive edge which is particularly useful in the late game. Adding to this, the Moria card allows players to gain board control without having to unnecessarily give up resources.

Yellow Enel

On the back of much-improved results at Flagship Battle and Standard Battle tournaments globally as well as a victory at the Core TCG Online Treasure Cup, the Yellow Enel deck has once again emerged and begun to move towards the top of the meta.

This deck is known for its late-game potency. This deck’s Leader card, the Enel card from Awakening of the New Era [OP-05], allows the player to add a Life card from the deck at the expense of a card from the hand. This allows the player to gain late-game board control without rapidly depleting resources.

In the early game, it’s advisable to play cards such as Yamato from Kingdoms of Intrigue [OP-04], Portgas D. Ace from 500 Years in the Future [OP-07], and Charlotte Katakuri from Pillars of Strength [OP-03]. By using these cards to attack opposing Characters in the opening stages, it’ll become much easier to target the opponent’s Life in the late game—especially after the player has the necessary Character cards set up.
