[Pokémon TCG] Glaceon GX’s Shiny Form Is an Ice-Cold Pull (GX Ultra Shiny [SM8b] 215/150)
A Shiny Eeveelution is, of course, always going to be a major attraction of any set.
When GX Ultra Shiny [SM8b] was released during the seventh generation of the Pokémon TCG, the set drew much fanfare due to the emphasis it placed on Shiny Pokémon. Among the alternate-colored Pokémon featured in this set, Glaceon GX turned out to be one of the biggest draws for several reasons.
This Glaceon GX card has a rarity of Shiny Secret Rare (SSR)—which as is implied by its name, is exclusive to certain cards that depict Shiny Pokémon. The card’s Full Art illustration places as much emphasis on the Ice-type Eeveelution’s status as a Shiny Pokémon as possible.
The sparkles surrounding Glaceon GX allude to the visual effect shown in the Pokémon video games when a Shiny Pokémon is sent out of its Poké Ball. To further accentuate the effect, the lines in the background make it seem as though rays of light are emanating from behind Glaceon GX.
The eight Eeveelutions have always been major fan favorites—and while not quite on the level of some of its counterparts, Glaceon nevertheless remains one. The fact that this card depicts the Shiny form of Glaceon GX is relevant as well—many Pokémon fans prefer the general aesthetic provided by the slightly lighter shade of blue which Glaceon’s Shiny form comes in.
The English version of this card is card SV55/SV94 from the Hidden Fates set.
The latest figures place the price of a Glaceon GX (GX Ultra Shiny [SM8b] 215/150) card at 14,900 JPY (~US$95).
