Pokémon TCG Kieran

Over the course of The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk, the two DLCs of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet video games, Kieran has one of the most intriguing character arcs. Starting as an ally of the player character in The Teal Mask, the Blueberry Academy student takes on the antagonist’s role during the in-universe time period between both DLCs until switching back during the climax of the Terapagos story arc of the Indigo Disk. Thus, given his major role over both DLC, it’s no surprise that demand for the Special Art Rare (SAR) version of the Kieran card from Pokémon TCG set Mask of Change [SV6] is high.

This card’s Full Art illustration depicts Kieran at the Festival of Masks—a pivotal plot point in the Ogerpon story arc of The Teal Mask. For additional visual appeal and depth, the card’s holofoil adds a luminous effect to the festival lights in the illustration.

The card’s illustration also includes three Pikachu masks—one clearly seen, one blurred, and one in the background. Any appearance of the face of the Pokémon franchise is sure to increase a card’s general desirability—and with this Kieran card, things are no different.

There are also two bonus details which those who have played the video games might have picked up on. Kieran is shown holding two candy apples—an allusion to Hydrapple, his signature Pokémon. Additionally, Kieran has a Teal Mask replica strapped to the side of his head, alluding to the title of the DLC.

There will be an English version of a Kieran card in Twilight Masquerade [TWM]; however, it won’t be the English version of the Kieran card of SAR rarity.

The SAR version of a Kieran (Mask of Change [SV6] 129/101) has a sale price of 6,500 JPY (~US$41).
