Throughout the history of the Pokémon franchise, Steel-types as a whole generally haven’t really been the most glamorous or spotlighted, Lucario notwithstanding. Thus, the recent emergence of this Steelix card from seventh-generation Pokémon TCG set Dream League [SM11b] as one which has seen a sudden increase in popularity will certainly please fans of those metallic ‘mons.

This Character Rare (CHR) card features a Full Art illustration which shows that the Steelix in question belongs to Jasmine, the Olivine Gym Leader. The imagery emphasizes Steelix’s Steel type as well as Jasmine’s status as a Steel-type specialist in several ways. The card’s holofoil, silver border, and sparkles combine to make Steelix’s metallic sheen even more evident.

It’s often the case that a Full Art illustration featuring a female character will become one of it’s set’s most notable pulls—and that’s once again the case with this card. While Jasmine might not necessarily be the most well-known or popular of the many female Gym Leaders, her presence alone is enough to elevate this card’s value.

One copy of a Steelix (Dream League [SM11b] 060/049) card has a price of 5,000 JPY (~US$32).
