Yu-Gi-Oh Terrors of the Afterroot

In most cases, Trap cards don’t typically figure among the most coveted cards of any Yu-Gi-Oh TCG set. However, the Terrors of the Afterroot card from Phantom Nightmare which happens to be one part of a trio including the Terrors of the Overroot and Terrors of the Underroot cards bucks this trend—interest in this card has been and still is relatively high.

In addition to the fact that the card’s status as part of a trio will appeal to completionists, these three cards have synergy with regard to gameplay. By banishing this card from the Graveyard and then targeting a Level 1 monster in the Graveyard, the player can then shuffle that monster into the deck, then set another copy of this card or one of either Terrors of the Overroot and Terrors of the Underroot from the deck.

This card, like many others from the Core Booster, comes in Quarter Century Secret Rare in honor of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s 25th anniversary. On top of that, this card is a beneficiary of the stereotypical “female character boost”, with an adult version of Red Blossoms from Underroot depicted. Her placement in a vulnerable stance (unfortunately) caters to a certain subsection of the fanbase as well.

This card has already been released in English.

A Terrors of the Afterroot (Phantom Nightmare PHNI-JP079) card goes for 2,180 JPY (~US$14).
