[Pokémon TCG] Xatu Flies to the Top of the Totem Pole (Shiny Treasure ex [SV4a] 257/190)
Anyone who plans to take down the mighty Charizard ex will need the right setup—and here's the card that makes it happen.
Although the Espathra ex/Xatu deck might not have seen as much tournament action as some other Pokémon TCG decks, it’s had its moments. Most recently played by Braden Eifert (26th place at EUIC) and Victor Freitas (20th place at the São Paulo Regionals), that deck has emerged as perhaps the primary counter to the otherwise rampant Charizard ex deck—and the Xatu card from Shiny Treasure ex [SV4a] is the “fuel” that makes this deck work.
The Mystic Pokémon’s Ability of Clairvoyant Sense makes it the ideal draw engine. Every time the player attaches a Psychic Energy card to a Pokémon on the Bench, the player can then proceed to draw two cards.
While Xatu is mainly in this deck to power up the Espathra ex card from Shiny Treasure ex [SV4a], in the event that anything happens to Espathra ex, Xatu can easily pivot to loading up the deck’s other attackers. If necessary, Xatu itself is no slouch in combat, packing the Super Psy Bolt attack that inflicts 80 damage for three Energy cards.
This card is a Shiny Secret Rare (SSR) that depicts the Psychic/Flying-type’s Shiny form. As an additional detail, the Shiny Pokémon visual effect from the Pokémon video games when one is sent out of its Poké Ball is visible in the illustration.
The English version of this card is 152/091 from Paldean Fates [PAF].
The sale price of a Xatu (Shiny Treasure ex [SV4a] 257/190) card is 2,350 JPY (~US$15).
