[ONE PIECE Card Game] Welcome to the ONE PIECE Card Game: Roronoa Zoro LP (Romance Dawn [OP-01] OP01-001)
The very first ONE PIECE Card Game card ever officially released.
There can be no question that the very first card of any TCG occupies a special place within its fanbase. The ONE PIECE Card Game is no different—and in this case, that card is the Roronoa Zoro card from the ONE PIECE Card Game’s inaugural set Romance Dawn [OP-01].
This card’s illustration is rather basic—it’s a close-up of the Straw Hat Pirates’ master swordsman with a map and related symbols in the background. While this wouldn’t ordinarily be of much note, as the first card of the entire series, it’s a good way to set the tone for what’s to come and arguably bring newcomers into the One Piece fandom in general—including the manga and anime.
In addition to being the first ONE PIECE Card Game card ever released, this is also the first Parallel Art card ever. On top of that, Zoro has always been among the series’ biggest fan favorites, so placing him as the first card would likely drive up this card’s appeal.
Finally, part of the reason why Zoro was selected as the first card has to do with its serial number. Zoro’s name itself is a reference to rolling double ones on a dice roll, hence this card’s number of OP01-001. It’s little details like that which are sure to impress long-time One Piece fans.
This card has been released in English.
One copy of a Roronoa Zoro LP (Romance Dawn [OP-01] OP01-001) card sells for 13,000 JPY (~US$84).
