To mark the Pokémon TCG’s 25th anniversary in 2021, Creatures Inc. released the 25th Anniversary Collection [S8a] including fresh takes on some of the most iconic ‘mons of all time. Not surprisingly, the original Mythical Pokémon made an appearance as part of this set—and not only that; the set’s Mew card depicted the Pokémon in its Shiny form.

This Ultra Rare (UR) card’s Full Art illustration does everything possible to highlight Mew’s unique status. In addition to the use of the Shiny form, the glittering holofoil background is covered in sparkles. The illustration also has a visual effect that makes it seem as though a burst of light is right behind Mew, casting an even greater spotlight on the Mythical Pokémon.

Adding to this card’s desirability is the 25th anniversary logo on the right side of the card which adds to its overall prestige. Finishing things off is the card’s gold border as well as the gold outline surrounding Mew—apt for a card and set designed to pay tribute to a major milestone.

This card has also seen a remarkable price rise recently—while unconfirmed, it’s possible that it could be linked to the much-anticipated reprint of cards from the Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] set, as Mew is that set’s cover Pokémon.

The English version of this card is 025/025 in the Celebrations set.

Following the recent price rise, a Mew (25th Anniversary Collection [S8a] 095/078) card sells for 18,000 JPY (~US$116).
