Pokémon TCG Arceus V

Just about every Pokémon fan knows that Arceus occupies a unique place in the lore of Pokémon. Revered in canon as the creator of the Pokémon universe, Arceus features on many cards referencing its position as the Pokémon universe’s supreme deity. The Arceus V card from eighth-generation Pokémon TCG set Star Birth [S9] is no different.

The most obvious thing to note about this Super Rare (SR) card is its Full Art illustration. Arceus is shown in all its godlike glory, rays of light emanating from around it as it levitates high above the Sinnoh region’s landscape. The galactic imagery at the top of the card’s illustration provides an additional sense of gravitas.

Ardent Pokémon fans will notice that the image of Mt. Coronet is visible in the illustration. This is another detail reflecting Arceus’ lore—in the Pokémon video games, Arceus is summoned at Spear Pillar, the peak of Mt. Coronet. Additionally, Arceus was the featured Pokémon of Star Birth [S9] as a tie-in with the launch of the Pokémon Legends: Arceus video game.

As far as gameplay is concerned, since Arceus V evolves into Arceus VSTAR, this card is a necessary component of the Arceus VSTAR/Giratina VSTAR deck. Additionally, this card will be reprinted as part of the upcoming Charizard ex Battle Master Deck.

In English, this card is card 166/172 in the Brilliant Stars set.

The sale price of an Arceus V (Star Birth [S9] 112/100) card is 7,060 JPY (~US$46) according to the latest figures.
