With the upcoming release of the Pokémon Legends Z-A video game—the prequel to sixth-generation main-series games Pokémon X and Y—a larger part of the Pokémon fanbase’s attention has recently been drawn towards Gen 6’s Pokémon, characters, and features. As such, the recent popularity of this Serena card from the Pokémon TCG set Incandescent Arcana [S11a] is likely linked to this trend.

A character who can be either the protagonist or rival in Pokémon X and Y, Serena is depicted on this Super Rare (SR) card on her way out of her hometown of Vaniville. She’s shown looking back and waving—implying that this is the start of her Pokémon journey and infusing this card with a sense of nostalgia for the first time that one started playing the Pokémon X and Y video games.

By now, it’s well known that card featuring Full Art illustrations of female characters are always highly desired. This one is no different; though Serena might not quite have the mass appeal that certain other female characters have, the effect is nonetheless in play.

As per mentioned, with Pokémon Legends Z-A coming soon, all Kalos-related cards including this one are rather likely to see an uptick in demand—and perhaps one in value to go with it.

This card’s English version is card 193/195 from the Silver Tempest set.

The current price of a Serena (Incandescent Arcana [S11a] 081/068) card of SR rarity is 15,800 JPY (~US$102).
