Ghost-type specialists have served as some of the most memorable boss fights in the history of the Pokémon video games. Acerola, the Ghost-type specialist of the Alola region’s Elite Four, is no exception in this regard. The “Idol of the Spirit World”—the nickname bestowed upon her in the Pokémon anime series—features on a Super Rare (SR) Pokémon TCG card from the VMAX Climax [S8b] set that’s seen its appeal recently spike.

Acerola’s connection to Ghost-type Pokémon is clearly expressed through this card’s Full Art illustration. As is the case in the video games, her entire aesthetic exudes Ghost-type vibes. Just to underscore this point, the illustration shows a Mimikyu-shaped beanbag chair behind her. Acerola’s former status as a Trial Captain is also alluded to via her flower-shaped hairclip as well as another beanbag chair—this one of the same shape—in the background.

As is so often the case, a Full Art card depicting a female character is always a major pull. Though it’s been two generations since she last appeared in the video games, Acerola has retained much of her fan appeal.

The English version of this card is TG24/TG30 in the Brilliant Stars set.

The price of an Acerola’s Premonition (VMAX Climax [S8b] 255/184) card is 7,200 JPY (~US$47).
